Rob Rey // Boys' Life Magazine// "Wolfdreams"

We are so happy to share this set of beautiful illustrations by our very own, Rob Rey! These works were made to accompany an incredible story in the February issue of "Boys' Life" called "Wolfdreams" by Gary Paulsen.

The story tells of the first dog sled ride of a young boy, and the powerful moments of epiphany when his dog team is joined by timer wolves (called moon ghosts) riding across a frozen lake in Minnesota.

The blend of whimsical realism in Rob's paintings capture the magical, dreamlike, and spiritual themes within this story. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

"There was some fur-covered explosion in front of me and I was suddenly whipping through the woods at 20 mph!"

"Across the lake in the moonlight we ran and never a moment of fear because they were part of it, part of the snow and cold and silence and lake and moonlight and dogs and me."
