Control Freaks

Michal Dziekan

"I'm a control freak. And more so now that I have children."

- Mariella Frostrup

David Johnson

"When it's time to make music, that's about getting lost for me. To be a control freak is not half as good as being a freak who's casually in control. You're feeling around in the dark for something that feels good."

- Josh Homme

Maciej Frolow

"I am in control at all times."

- CG Allin

Leonard Peng

"Bad leaders believe that they have to project control at all times."

- Simon Sinek

Charles Chaisson

"The real world is far too complex and unpredictable to make something like the idea of humanity controlling its own evolution or engineering itself - well, I wouldn't say impossible but it should be approached with a degree of caution."

- Ken Macleod

Kent Barton

"Unrestrained competition can drive people into actions that they would otherwise regret."

- George Soros

John Mattos

"The nation that secures control of the air will ultimately control the world."

- Alexander Graham Bell

Dongyun Lee

"Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life."

- Marilu Henner

Tyler Jacobson

"A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things."

- Yoda

Tim Bower

"Two kinds of empathy exist, hot and cold. Psychopaths run exclusively on cold empathy, which allows personality traits such as ruthlessness, confidence and charisma, traits of successful politicians and surgeons, to flourish."

- Scientific American

Maria Corte Maidagan

"When it comes to controlling human beings, there is no better instrument than lies. Because you see, humans live by beliefs. And beliefs can be manipulated. The power to manipulate beliefs is the only thing that counts."

- Michael Ende

Douglas Smith

"She had never dreamed there could be so much pain in a life when there was nothing physically wrong. She hurt all the time."

- Ronald Perelman

Rudy Gutierrez

"I'm kind of a control freak. I get really freaked out if I don't know what's going on and what's going to happen."

- Kristen Stewart

David Palumbo

"For a control freak, love and the desire to control others are synonymous. Once they lose control over the object of their desire, hostility takes over in full force."

- Natasha Vorobyova

James Bennett

"I surrender the idea of having some kind of control over the arc of my career a lot of the time because you never know what tomorrow's going to bring."

- Quincy Jones

Chase Stone

"He who can destroy a thing, can control a thing."

- Frank Herbert

Oscar Ramos

"When you control a man's thinking you do not have to worry about his actions."

- Carter G. Woodson

Ricardo Martinez

"The world is so unpredictable. Things happen suddenly, unexpectedly. We want to feel we are in control of our own existence. In some ways we are, in some ways we're not. We are ruled by the forces of chance and coincidence."

Mark Summers - Gold Medals , Richards/Carlberg - American Advertising Federation

Back in 2015 and continuing into this year, Mark Summers has been working with Richards/Carlberg to illustrate for a massive campaign for a Houston-area medical university system. Recently the American Advertising Federation held the award ceremony in Houston and the campaign came out in shining gold with medals all around! This campaign won a gold medal for a single illustration, a gold medal for a series of illustrations, and another gold for an animated tv spot, which featured one of Mark's portraits! So awesome! Mark Summers Demo Video

Last week, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Mark Summers while he was visiting New York. It's always such a treat to meet the artists in person and get to ask them all sorts of questions about the start of their careers, their favorite subjects, and best client stories. We also managed to convince Mark to show us how the magic happens and were able to capture a taste of his technique for a video! Check it out and prepare yourselves to be blown away!

Niklas Asker - Why are the 2016 Presidential Candidates Ignoring Healthcare?, Medical Economics

Medical Economics is a healthcare professional publication who, like everyone else, has the upcoming election on the brain. They recently commissioned Niklas Asker to illustrate the candidates for the 2016 race for an article about why healthcare isn't as big of a topic as it was in the past.  A very interesting read from the physicians point of view and great portraiture from Niklas! Check it out!
