Introducing Aytek Gurkan to RSAR!

Here at Richard Solomon Artists Representative, we are thrilled to add Turkish artist Aytek Gurkan to the team! His work is exciting, imaginative, and contemplative.

Predominantly featuring patterns to formulate his work, Aytek uses subtly juxtaposing design elements in his work, to allow us the ability to contemplate his illustrations, and the experience of seemingly ordinary subject matter, turns into a cerebral immersion of very organic and human sensibilities, in an organized setting.

Having studied Art Management in Istanbul Technical University sparked Aytek’s interest in illustration and design. After some time, he began to study graphic design on his own, which influenced his work and pushed him to pursue the illustrative arts. Currently his expansive client list includes Bürosit, Mobilist, Arkenus, Ada Turizm, Oyuncak Denizi, etc., and we look forward to seeing his work flourish with our company!

Please scroll down to see some of his work.

Stay tuned for more of his excellent illustrations!

Well, hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar"

"I just want to be a guy with a guitar."
- Jeff Buckley
Maria Corte Maidagan

- Joe Perry
David Palumbo
"I think I could walk into any music shop anywhere and with a guitar off the rack, a couple of basic pedals and an amp I could sound just like me. There's no devices, customized or otherwise, that give me my sound. "
- David Gilmour
Gary Kelley
"I mean, give me a guitar, give me a piano, give me a broom and string, I wouldn't get bored anywhere."
- Keith Richards
Jason Seiler
"I think my first instrument was a ukulele that they gave me. I used to know how to play that pretty well."
- Don Henley
Dongyun Lee

"I grew up across the street from, you know, the Villarias, which was a great Mexican family there. In fact, there was three houses right across the street from me. So, day and night, I listened to Mexican music, and I'm sure, you know, my guitar playing, singing, writing, whatever, has a lot of Mexican flavor there, but it comes natural."
- Willie Nelson
Goni Montes
"I've been amazed by these guitars since the first time I played one. They are road ready instruments, consistent, powerful and always in tune. Day in and day out, They're ready to play."
- Joe Bonamassa
Chase Stone
"Look, when I started out, mainstream culture was Sinatra, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Sound of Music. There was no fitting into it then and of course, there's no fitting into it now."

- Dan Aykroyd
James Bennett
"All the music I loved as a child, people thought it was junk. People were unaware of the subtext in so many of those records, but if you were a kid, you were just completely tuned in, even though you didn't always say - you wouldn't dare say it was beautiful."

Thomas Ehretsmann- Whit Stillman Portrait - The Village Voice

The Village Voice recently commissioned Thomas Ehretsmann to create a portrait of Whit Stillman. In this piece, Stillman is depicted wearing the traditional garments from the time period of Regency England, much like in his film, Love and Friendship.

Thomas did a wonderful job capturing Stillman in an era he loves to portray. Great job to Thomas on this work and great job to The Village Voice on the article!

Tran Nguyen - Flavor Illustrations - Common Cider

Recently, Common Cider decided to rebrand and refresh the look of two of their signature flavors; Hibiscus Saison and Blood Orange Tangerine. They have commissioned non other than our very own Tran Nguyen to make these beautiful and exciting watercolor illustrations for the packaging of their ciders.

Common Cider is known for their refreshing and interesting palette combinations. I for one cannot think of a more harmonious pair than to collaborate Common Cider's taste with Tran's visuals. These illustrations came out bright and spirited, representing all that embodies the brand. Tran did a fantastic job at capturing the essence of both flavors and we are so excited to see what's in store for this new found partnership.

This great drink comes with some great artwork, all you need now is some great company to share it with. So go out and get yours today! Available at your local convenient store (regional restrictions may apply)

"These are ciders that taste like poems, enjoy them in the spirit of togetherness." - Common Cider

Guy Stauber - ARTIST OF THE WEEK - Pixel77

Our artist, Guy Stauber, was recently featured as The Artist of The Week for Pixel77 and we have his interview for you right here !

In the interview, Guy discusses (in his brilliantly witty opinion) the ups and downs, lefts and rights, ins and outs of being an artist. We love when our artists are featured in this way because it allows YOU, the fans, to see the human behind the work. Everything here is extremely relatable and Guy brings humor and light-heartedness to common questions that artists face each day.

The article also gives a brief background on Guy and some insight as to how he got started:

"Guy Stauber is a UK based digital illustrator, who specializes in music, fashion, and popular culture illustrations. After studying graphic design and editorial illustration, he set up Shogun Graphic Systems and has been catering to clients like Addict Clothing, Part Time Heroes, Bargate Monument Gallery, Vara Records, Acme Archives and others. After 15 years of experience Guy describes himself as someone who grew up on Marvel comics, cult TV shows, Sci-Fi movies and to cite his exact words: “It shows”." - Pixel77

Chris Gall - Geeking Out With Art; Article - Geek Dad

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Today GeekDad posted an article about the wonderful Chris Gall on his process when it comes to creating his art. We'd like to share it with you!

In this article, Chris talks about how he began drawing, how he's learned to overcome obstacles, and how the use of technology has evolved his technique. Chris also gives us close up examples and visuals to help us better understand his craft.

This is a great read for anyone interested in the steps it takes to get a piece going or just simply art in general. Check it out here !!

"Chris Gall has been drawing pictures for as long as he can remember. When he was caught doodling on his desk in second grade, his teacher suggested that he might become an artist some day, then made him clean all the desks in the classroom. In seventh grade, Chris won a Read Magazine Young Writers Award, and that inspired him to create stories to go with his art. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Chris became an award-winning, internationally recognized illustrator, and his artwork has been shown in almost every publication in America, including Time, Newsweek, People, Fortune, The New York Times, and The Washington Post."

Very inspiring read.
