Mark Summers - Nook Headquarters, Barnes and Noble

Mark Summers, always on fire, completed these portraits for Barnes and Noble's new Nook headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. Each of the illustrations were etched onto the glass doors of their namesake conference rooms. Always great to see illustrations applied non-traditionally, even better to see them larger than life!

Richard to Washington D.C

Last week, Richard attended the annual World Food Prize announcement of the winner of this years award, Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram. It was a wonderful and inspiring experience as it always is and Secretary of State, John Kerry, gave a moving and informative keynote speech.

A brief about Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram

Richard got to know a great deal about the World Food Prize and their mission because our group worked with the director, ambassador Ken Quinn formally of the State Department and our former ambassador to Cambodia, to source much of the art that now hangs in their headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa including paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and stained glass. All of the images below are pieces which are on display at the World Food Prize headquarters.

The third portrait is of Kurt Meyer, the nemesis of Canadian troops in Normandy. The World's Game

Ted Wright

“The World Cup experience is more than just the game of soccer. It's an event. And it will fly by faster than you think. It will end and you'll be saying, 'Wow, it's over already?' You have to remember to take it all in and enjoy it. "

- Cobi Jones

Guy Stauber

"The biggest knock against Neymar may be his size, but he has silenced many doubters after his move to Barcelona last year with lightning fast speed and acceleration, a top-class ability to finish off both feet, and the same doggedness on the pitch that his professional teammate Lionel Messi is known for. "

-CBS NEWS

David Johnson

"OK, the wonderful thing about soccer is, a football is a perfectly round object, and it doesn't make mistakes. The player using it makes mistakes. And the more you use it, the less mistakes you make."

-Craig Johnston

Dongyun Lee

"The World Cup is a very important way to measure the good players, and the great ones. It is a test of a great player."

-Pele

James Bennett

"The World Cup is not just a great global sporting event, it is also inscribed with much deeper cultural and political importance"

- Martin Jacques

Bill Sanderson

"Soccer is a great game, and the rich variety of styles and passions that come with being truly global makes the World Cup a nonpareil event in the universe of competitive sport."

- Serge Schmemann

Maria Corte Maidagan

"I think soccer is more respected now than it ever has been. You can see that in the numbers of young kids who are playing and the numbers of people who are coming to watch."

-Brandi Chastain

Rudy Gutierrez

"A lot of people, when a guy scores a lot of goals, think, 'He's a great player', because a goal is very important, but a great player is a player who can do everything on the field. He can do assists, encourage his colleagues, give them confidence to go forward. It is someone who, when a team does not do well, becomes one of the leaders."

-Pele

Ricardo Martinez

"Right through to the end of the last World Cup game, I still couldn't bear the thought of not being perfect or letting people down. "

-Jonny Wilkinson

Oscar Ramos

"The best word to describe the current Chilean national team’s style of play is exciting. Comprised of players who are typically smaller in stature but technically superb, these guys lit up the FIFA World Cup group stages with expert displays in keeping possession and lightning quick counter attacking football."

-Soccer.com

Mark Summers

"As a footballer, you always want to test yourself against the best."

- David Beckham

John Mattos

"Football is the poetry of a motion."

- Pubudu Lasal Dissanayake

Paul Cox

"Everything I know about morality and the obligations of men, I owe it to football ."

-Albert Camus

Michal Dziekan

"I think there are a lot of things that soccer does in the communities that transcend the soccer field."

- Brandi Chastain

Mark T Smith

"Brazil goes into every World Cup expecting to win - so when it is in Brazil it is expected even more. You can't understand what the World Cup means to our country."
