Rudy Gutierrez will be signing Spirit Seeker this weekend!

Come join illustrator Rudy Gutierrez and author Gary Golio for a book signing of their collaboration Spirit Seeker: John Coltrane's Musical Journey.

When:
December 1, 2012 (Saturday) 12-2:00pm

Where:
Books of Wonder
18 West 18th Street
New York, NY 10011
(212) 989-3270

A little about the book:
Growing up, John was a seeker. He wondered about spirit, and the meaning of life. And whether music could be a key to unlocking those mysteries. Like his grandfather’s preaching and his parents’ songs, could John’s music bring people closer to God?

Told in moving prose and powerfully illustrated, this is the story of a shy, curious boy from a deeply religious family who grew up to find solace and inspiration in his own unique approach to both spirituality and music. John Coltrane—a legendary jazz musician whose work shattered boundaries and continues to influence countless artists to this day.

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

Guy Stauber
"Of all those in the army close to the commander none is more intimate than the secret agent; of all rewards none more liberal than those given to secret agents; of all matters none is more confidential than those relating to secret operations."
- Sun Tzu

Ricardo Martinez
"A spy, like a writer, lives outside the mainstream population. He steals his experience through bribes and reconstructs it."
- John le Carre

Chase Stone
"We have learned in recent years to translate almost all of political life in terms of conspiracy. And the spy novel, as never before, really, has come into its own. "
- John le Carre

Michal Dziekan
"I carried out my orders until arrested. I had no sense that I was spying, and I ask that this be taken into account in deciding my verdict."
- Witold Pilecki

Thomas Ehretsmann
"Since knowledge is but sorrow's spy, It is not safe to know."
- William Davenant

David Johnson
"To betray, you must first belong."
- Kim Philby (British spy)

"What I'm getting at is, you know, if we really want to get serious about helping all the people living in the street and getting people jobs, we could just hire half the people in the country to spy on the other half."
- Jello Biafra

Niklas Asker
"It is only the enlightened ruler and the wise general who will use the highest intelligence of the army for the purposes of spying, and thereby they achieve great results."
- Sun Tzu

- Matt LeBlanc

Douglas Smith

Andrew R Wright

The Workbook Creative Carnival 2012

Poster illustrated by Bill Mayer

Last friday, we attended the Creative Carnival hosted by The Workbook and just had to mention what a blast it was. Artists, including our own Chase Stone and Dongyun Lee, were invited to draw a cast of circus performers while attendees walked around and enjoyed all the creativity. We met some new friends as well as old with a drink in our hands and a smile on our faces. Big props to Bob Pastore, sales director and our longtime friend, for helping pull off such a successful night.

We look forward to next year!
